The juvenile was reportedly unconscious when the call first came in. First responders at the scene at first said the patient had potentially life-threatening injuries, but shortly thereafter said the injuries were serious.

The driver reportedly fled the scene. Officers were looking for a black sports car, last seen heading south on Harper from the 1600 block. Officers didn’t yet know whether the car was damaged and did not yet have its license plate.

The juvenile was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center by ambulance, scanner traffic indicated.

Update, 9:16 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8:

Lawrence police Lt. David Ernst said Monday evening in an emailed response to the Times’ Saturday request for information that he could confirm that a person was taken to an area hospital for injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.

However, “The person transported for medical treatment was an adult and received the injuries during an altercation at an unknown location. This incident remains under investigation,” Ernst said.
