Law enforcement is investigating after Billy Mills Middle School received a report that a former student had made threatening comments about violence toward the school on social media, according to an email to school families.
Principal Andrew Taylor wrote Tuesday evening that the staff is working with a school resource officer to investigate, including interviewing the former student and their family.
“As you know, threats of any nature are not conducive to the learning environment we strive to provide at Billy Mills Middle School,” Taylor wrote.
“The safety of students and staff is our top priority. We know that young people can say and post things on social media that they do not mean; however, we take all threats seriously and will work with law enforcement to investigate them.”
Taylor asked students and school families to report any safety concerns.
