Where kids 18 and younger can eat free summer meals in Douglas County

Free summer lunches are available for children at community sites in Lawrence, Baldwin City and Eudora, and one Lawrence site will also start serving breakfasts this week.

“Our community is fortunate to provide summer meal programs for youth,” said Kaitlyn Peine, community health and wellness agent for Douglas County K-State Research and Extension. “The reality is, families with school-aged youth have 12 weeks during the summer months to navigate child-care plans and to provide meals for.”

The Lawrence and Baldwin City school districts host summer meal programs, and the Feeding Eudora program is sponsored through a community collaboration with local organizations providing volunteers and financial support for the program, Peine said in an email.

Here are the details for summer meals in Lawrence, Baldwin City and Eudora.
