Dear Republicans. For you, the primary election in August has always been about who will be the Republican candidates in the fall races across the state.
This year, you will also have the chance to vote on amending the Kansas Constitution to give the Kansas Legislature the authority to restrict abortion across our fair state. It’s your choice, obviously, whether you vote for this change or not.
Maybe, though, you are generally pro-life but don’t like extreme restrictions on abortion. Maybe you are just generally uneasy about abortion itself but want it to keep it as an option. Maybe you trust women to make the excruciating choice on whether to have an abortion. If your views are anything like the ones I’ve just laid out, simply vote NO on the proposed constitutional amendment.
Whatever your views, though, it’s up to all of us to vote. Our Kansas Legislature has put this incredibly difficult decision in our hands to say what we think is best for Kansans and their families. It’s up to us now.
