Katoya Leasá Owens, 39, Lawrence, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023.

Toya was born Katoya Leasá Logan on December 5, 1983, in Kansas City, Missouri to Jenny Mendoza and Mark Logan.

Toya attended Kennedy Elementary, Central Junior High School, and Lawrence High School. She was a homemaker who had previously held customer service positions at Berry Plastics, Amarr Garage Door, and Connex International.

She enjoyed gathering with family and friends, sitting around the fire pit and having great conversations, game nights (she was a fierce competitor), and looking at the night sky. Although she lived in land locked Kansas, she also loved to be by the water. It was her happy place.

Toya is survived by her husband Paul Owens, children Briana (Domonic) Valencia, Trey Johnson, and Leiliana Johnson, two grandchildren, mother Jenny Mendoza, brothers Orlando Mendoza (Robyn), Markus Logan, Joseph Polk (Shirley), sister LaTonya Phillips (Justin), and many nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. Toya is preceded in death by her father Mark Logan and brothers Javiel Pantoja and Luis Pantoja Jr.

Services will be held at Victory Bible Church, 1942 Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, Kansas 66046 on Saturday January 14, 2023. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the service taking place at 11:00 am. Funeral Services are being provided by Peaceful Rest Funeral Chapel, Topeka, Kansas.
