Douglas County could see some sleet and freezing rain Friday afternoon and evening, and severe thunderstorms could be on the way Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.
In Lawrence, there’s about a 50% chance of wintry mix starting around 3 p.m. Friday and continuing through 8 p.m. Slick spots may develop on roads, bridges and overpasses, according to NWS.
Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 51°, according to the forecast as of 11:15 a.m. Friday, with a 20% chance of rain after midnight. On Sunday, temperatures could reach 62° with a chance of showers in the afternoon.
Sunday night, severe thunderstorms with hail around an inch in diameter are possible, as are wind gusts of 60 mph. Wind speeds of 30 mph with gusts around 45 mph are also possible late Sunday through midday Monday, according to the NWS.
Next week, the forecast showed temperatures in the 50s and 60s through Thursday afternoon.
