Save the date: Lawrence PRIDE is coming back Saturday, June 3, and this year’s event will include a street party, organizers say.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m. that day near South Park with a route heading north to Sixth and Massachusetts streets, through the heart of downtown.
The street party is set to start at 6 p.m. on Eighth Street between New Hampshire and Massachusetts streets. The party will feature drag performances, local vendors, a DJ, a dance party and more, according to a news release from organizers.
Events are family-friendly and free to attend.
“This event is a big one not just for our organization, but the community as well,” Lawrence PRIDE Director Cody Murray said in the release. “We’re proud to host an event that brings people from all walks of life together to celebrate the diversity that makes Lawrence so special. We can’t wait to see everyone on June 3rd.”
Lawrence PRIDE expanded into a nonprofit earlier this year with plans to hold more events to celebrate Lawrence’s LGBTQ+ community, such as February’s Queer Prom.
The organization is seeking volunteers and vendors to participate in the event, according to the release. Find out more on their website, lawrencekspride.com. The organization is accepting donations through the United Way at this link.

“Lawrence PRIDE encourages everyone to come out and show their support for the LGBTQ+ community in Lawrence and beyond,” according to the release.
