Note from the Times: This bestseller list comes to us straight from The Raven Book Store in Lawrence. See other editions of the list here.
One of the fun things about publishing our bestseller lists is how different they look from national bestseller lists. This is one of the strengths of independent bookstores: their shelves reflect the interests of their communities, which can differ from broader mainstream tastes.
Some weeks, the Raven’s bestseller list has no New York Times bestsellers on it at all. This week, half the list is also on the NYT list. The overlapping titles are mostly adult heavy-hitters: Matthew Desmond, Bonnie Garmus, Gabrielle Zevin, and the seemingly unstoppable Michelle Zauner are all on both lists.
But for us, the most exciting title that’s on both lists is our #3: Tessa Gratton, our good friend and local author, has not only (again!) landed on our list but is also on the New York Times list this week! A local author getting a big national audience: you love to see it!
