Lawrence community members and representatives from local organizations gathered Saturday morning at South Park for a rally with a strong message: Pride never ends.

July 1 marked the end of Pride Month, but also the day that new anti-transgender legislation, including SB 180, took effect in the state of Kansas. The rally was intended to show support for transgender and nonbinary people and protest the laws that organizers said were intended to erase them.

Lawrence’s Pride Never Ends rally was one of several planned across the state. Organizations at the local rally included PFLAG Lawrence, Lawrence PRIDE, Rainbow Kids and Families, Loud Light and more.
