When parking is free, changes to trash pickup and more holiday notes

City of Lawrence and Douglas County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday this week (Nov. 23 and 24) for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Douglas County offices will be closed the same days, and there is no Douglas County Commission meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Parking will be free at meters, in lots and in garages in downtown Lawrence on Thursday and Friday.

Lawrence Transit will have no service on Thursday, but will resume on Friday.

The Lawrence Public Library will be closed Thursday and Friday, but the digital library is available 24/7 at lplks.org/digital-library.

All city Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed Thursday. See specific hours that each facility will be open on Friday at this link, except for Prairie Park Nature Center, which will not reopen until Saturday.

Solid waste pickup will be delayed one day for Thursday and Friday residential customers, so Thursday’s routes will be collected on Friday, and Friday’s routes will be collected on Saturday.

The city compost facility will be closed Saturday. Its final Saturdays open this year will be Dec. 2, 9 and 16.

Douglas County District Court will be closed Thursday and Friday.
