Kansas Public Radio’s annual holiday jazz concert is set for Saturday, Dec. 9 in Lawrence.
KPR’s Big Band Christmas “will feature a night of swingin’ Yuletide favorites with the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, an internationally acclaimed performing arts group providing jazz entertainment and education to the Kansas City area and beyond,” according to a news release about the event.
The ensemble, formed 20 years ago, “brings together 19 of the best musicians that the city has to offer, including direction from bandleader and trumpeter Clint Ashlock,” the release continues.
This year, special guest Ron Gutierrez will provide vocals, according to the release.
Tickets cost $30, and they’re available via Ticketmaster at this link. The Liberty Hall box office is cash only for live event ticket purchases.
General admission seats have been expanded from the balcony to include some seats on the main level of the theater as well this year, according to the release. Seats are first-come, first-served.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show is set to begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St.
