Middle and high school students are set to sing, dance and tell jokes as part of an upcoming Lawrence school district talent show.
Featured acts in the eighth annual “Ovation!” talent show will include instrumentalists, dancers and aerialists as well as a comedian and vocalist.
One participant, Free State High School senior Kiwani “KJ” Jones, is dedicating their vocal performance to their late mother, Abigail Jones. Abigail was a community advocate and environmentalist who died in October.
Dance teams, ballerinas, aerialists, pianists, a clarinet duo, a violinist and a comedian will also take the stage. All participants auditioned and were selected to perform.
“Ovation!” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive. The community is invited to come and support.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for students and youth and can be purchased on at this link. There is an additional $5 fee per order to purchase online. Tickets can also be purchased in person through the Lied Center’s ticket office, open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays or by calling 785-864-2787.
The annual event is hosted by the Lawrence Schools Foundation and Lied Center of Kansas. Proceeds will benefit the Lawrence Schools Foundation.
