As part of an art competition and exhibit, elementary, middle and high school students are encouraged to submit original artwork expressing their school’s uniqueness.
The Watkins Museum of History is accepting submissions for its art competition under the theme “What Makes Your School Special?” Any art medium, from paintings to sculptures to digital media, is welcome.
Kindergartners through high school seniors located anywhere in the United States may participate.
Submitted photos of each piece of art will be put on display in a virtual exhibit on the museum’s website. From Thursday, May 23 through Sunday, June 23, the public will be able to vote online for their favorite works in four age categories.
Winners of each category will be announced on Tuesday, June 25, and then their work will be featured in an in-person exhibit from Nov. 21 through Jan. 31, 2025 at the Watkins Museum, 1047 Massachusetts St. in Lawrence.
To make a submission, send an email to info@watkinsmuseum.org with the subject line “Student Art,” and include the student’s name, grade level and a photograph of their artwork. The deadline to submit is Wednesday, May 22.
