Graduations are coming up fast for high school seniors and more in Lawrence.
Here are the whens and wheres for the big celebrations. Information here comes from the schools and the Lawrence school district.
• Project SEARCH: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at Pinckney, 810 W. Sixth St.
• C-Tran (Community Transition Program): 10 a.m. Friday, May 17 at Pinckney, 810 W. Sixth St.
• Lawrence Virtual School: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Free State High School auditorium, 4700 Overland Drive
• Free State High School: 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the FSHS stadium, 4700 Overland Drive
The Firebirds will celebrate 427 graduates, including 28 valedictorians. Ruby Godsey and Ava Rivera will be the senior speakers. Free State journalism students will livestream the ceremony at this link.
Accessible parking is available in the parking lot next to the ticket booths to the east. Golf carts will be available in both parking lots to take guests to the stadium. There will be ASL and Spanish interpreters.
• Lawrence High School: 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at the LHS stadium, 1901 Louisiana St.
The Chesty Lions will celebrate 374 graduates, including 17 valedictorians. Ivori Jones and Finn Lotton-Barker will be the senior speakers. Room 308 Productions will livestream the ceremony at this link.
Accessible parking is available in the north lot by the stadium. Golf carts will be available in both parking lots to take guests to the stadium. There will be ASL and Spanish interpreters.
• Bishop Seabury Academy’s Stepping Up ceremony: 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at Seabury, 4120 Clinton Parkway
The Class of 2024 includes 27 graduates who were offered more than $8.3 million in four-year renewable scholarships and institutional grants.
• Adult Education Services: 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30 at the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence Teen Center gymnasium, 2910 Haskell Ave.
In addition, Project Graduation — a free, citywide party for all area high school seniors graduating with the Class of 2024 — is set for 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 at Abe and Jake’s Landing, 8 E. Sixth St. Students should bring photo IDs to enter.
