Here’s a quick roundup of closures, changes and more for the Juneteenth holiday in Lawrence:
• Parking at meters, lots and in garages in downtown Lawrence will be free Wednesday, June 19.
• Lawrence Transit buses, including fixed-route and paratransit buses, will run their usual schedules.
• Solid waste collection will be delayed by one day for customers whose trash is normally picked up on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Regular Wednesday customers will have collection on Thursday, and so forth. There will be no yard waste collections, bulk item pickups, rolloff services, or dumpster swaps or maintenance throughout the holiday week, June 17 through 23.
• Lawrence Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed for the holiday, but all other parks and rec facilities will operate as normal, except for Sports Pavilion Lawrence, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• The Lawrence Public Library will be closed on Wednesday. However, the online library is open 24/7.
• Douglas County District Court will be closed Wednesday.
• City of Lawrence and Douglas County offices will be closed Wednesday. There will be no Douglas County Commission meeting.
• There will be no lunch service for kids at the Lawrence Public Library or Lawrence Arts Center on Wednesday.
