Presenters will share with the community how to do card tricks, dance Argentine tango, cook by using sun rays and more at an annual Lawrence festival.

Lawrence Public Library’s How-To Festival welcomes folks to learn from community members with knowledge and skills to share. The festival is “the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill, find a new hobby, or discover a way to get more involved in your community,” according to a news release on the library’s website.

In addition to fun activities for all ages, the event will feature some Lawrence organizations that’ll share about volunteering opportunities.

“The How-To Festival is a chance for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn together,” Melissa Fisher Isaacs, information services supervisor for the library, said in the release. “We hope folks will make lifelong connections and discover opportunities to get more involved in our community. The festival is a celebration of learning where everyone can have some fun together.”

This year, 34 learning stations are scheduled to be set up, with folks dropping life lessons about food, nature, retirement, art, history and more.

The 2024 How-To Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8 inside the library, 707 Vermont St. It’s free to attend.

In conjunction, the library’s Friends & Foundation will also host its 2nd Saturday Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. It’ll be located on the Kentucky Street side of the library.
