Memorial services for Scott Arlin Johanning, 60, Lawrence, KS, will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A family burial will follow at the Clinton Cemetery. Mr. Johanning passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the KU Medical Center June 6, 2024 after valiantly battling cancer for four years. He was a lifelong resident of Douglas County. Born January 8, 1964 in Lawrence, KS, Scott was the second of three children to Mary Ann (Stull) and Glenn Johanning. He married Roxy (Courtney) on October 8, 1994 in Lawrence, sharing nearly 30 years of laughter and joy across countless family road trips, sporting events, and musical performances.

Scott, affectionately known as Papa to his grandchildren, was a hard-working and dedicated family man. He loved his grandchildren and his dogs, and he delighted in playful activity with both. Scott greatly enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking for family and friends–especially homemade ice cream. Scott was always available to help anyone in need. A life-long farmer alongside his brother Bruce, Scott treasured the time spent working outdoors tending to livestock and crops, and maintaining equipment in addition to his full-time job spanning over 40 years at Berry Global.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother and is survived by his father; wife; two sons Jared (Mandy) and John; grandchildren; brother Bruce (Heather); sister Julie (Rob); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be forever remembered for his strength, patience, and devoted personality.

Friends and family may visit at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, or attend the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday June 15. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Family Promise, sent in care of the funeral home. Fond memories and condolences can be left at http://rumsey-yost.com.
