After two years in downtown Lawrence, the New York-style pizzeria Pizza Tascio has closed its doors.

Owner Erik Borger opened Pizza Tascio in Lawrence in 2022. The restaurant was located at 1004 Massachusetts St., offering slices and pies.

Pizza Tascio’s team responded to an email Friday that they’re appreciative of the community’s support and that the “decision to close the Lawrence store is part of a strategic move to focus our resources closer to our other locations.”

Six other locations remain open in the Kansas City area.

“We’ve cherished every moment in Lawrence and are incredibly proud of the connections we’ve made with our customers,” the team said. “It’s been a wonderful journey, and we are excited about new opportunities and growth closer to our existing portfolio.”

At least three downtown Lawrence restaurants have closed in recent weeks. Rusty Taco closed at the end of June, and Taco Zone earlier this week announced that it will close to regular hours and only do catering.
