“According to preliminary information, the man and his friends about 5 p.m. were in the area, which was recommended to be closed to swimmers due to flooding, before he went missing,” according to a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The DGSO Underwater Search and Recovery team was still at the scene off of Bloomington Beach as of 7 p.m., according to the initial news release. As of an update at 8:39 p.m. Saturday, the team had recovered the man’s body.

“The Sheriff’s Office offers condolences to the man’s family and friends,” the update stated.

The entire beach was flooded Saturday, a reporter at the scene observed.

The sheriff’s office did not provide the man’s identity.
