A Lawrence teenager was killed in a single-vehicle crash discovered Tuesday evening, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Family members of Brody Minton, 17, had reported him missing on Monday, and law enforcement had attempted to find him, George Diepenbrock, spokesperson for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, said via email.

“DGSO deputies on Monday and Tuesday searched extensively including at the campgrounds at Clinton Lake and sought to locate his vehicle in the area,” Diepenbrock said.

A person discovered the Nissan Altima Minton was driving at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area in the 900 block of North 1150 Road, Diepenbrock said.

Deputies on Tuesday evening were working to close the road, known as the dam road at Clinton Lake, for the sheriff’s office’s crash reconstruction team to investigate, Diepenbrock said.

Drivers in the area should use East 902 Road near Eagle Bend Golf Course, he said.
