Live on Mass is returning to downtown Lawrence in August, featuring the recently reunited Split Lip Rayfield, “with special guests TBA.”

The Kansas Hall of Famers recently headlined the Kaw River Roots Festival, which is also presenting the upcoming outdoor show.

“From the blood-red heart of Kansas, Split Lip Rayfield is going stronger than ever,” organizers wrote on the event Facebook page. “It’s completely fair to call these guys legends. It’s been more than two decades since they first mashed up their aggressive stew of acoustic bluegrass instrumentation, tight country vocals, fierce metal shred and in-your-face punk sensibilities.”

Live on Mass is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street. The show is for all ages and free to attend.

There will be an “official afterparty” at Lucia, 1016 Massachusetts St., according to the event page.

Follow the event page for updates as the show gets closer.

In addition to the Kaw River Roots Festival, the event is hosted by The Granada, Lucia, Explore Lawrence and Downtown Lawrence Inc.
