Monique Wahba, recently named director of Family Promise of Lawrence, has resigned from her position because the role does not “align as well with (her) career goals” as she had anticipated, the organization announced Friday.
Brenda Wahl, current director of operations and a staff member of FPL for nine years, has been selected to serve as the interim executive director effective immediately, according to a news release.
“When I accepted the role of Executive Director, I did so with great (enthusiasm) and optimism for the opportunity to contribute to FPL,” Wahba said in the release. “However, upon assuming the responsibilities of the position, I have come to realize that the role and its demands do not align as well with my career goals and personal circumstances as I had anticipated. It is clear that the organization is poised for continued success, and I have no doubt that under the right leadership, FPL will achieve its strategic objectives and continue to make a significant impact.”
Wahba in May filled the role previously held by Dana Ortiz, who announced in February that she planned to retire in August after 13 years with FPL. Ortiz was to support Wahba in the transition, according to a news release at that time.
Matt Sturtevant, FPL board president, said in the release Friday that the board is beginning a search for a new executive director.
“Family Promise Lawrence continues its ongoing work without disruptions, as we have an incredibly strong, committed staff and board,” he said in the release.
