Clinton Marina will be closed until further notice because of significant damage from Wednesday night’s storm, according to their Facebook post.

The marina asks people to stay off the docks because they’re not safe.

“We will do our best to keep everyone updated as we move forward,” the Facebook post stated. “We’re working hard to get everything up and running as soon as possible! Thank you so much for all of your support and understanding!”

All boats appeared to be secure and on their lifts, according to another post from the marina, and “we will contact you if your boat has any damage.”

The marina has moved its Float Local Friday event to Overlook Park at 868 North 1402 Road. It will be the final Float Local Friday event of the season, and the marina is partnering with the Lawrence Humane Society.

There will be live music, food trucks, a bounce house and a dunk tank, according to the Facebook event page. It’s set for 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.

The humane society is asking folks if they can to please bring some items the animal shelter is running low on: soft dog treats (Pupperoni, Beggin’ Strips, Canine Carryouts); wet or dry dog and cat food; new or gently used large dog toys; poop bags; hot dogs; and blocks of cheddar cheese.

Keep an eye on the marina’s Facebook page, facebook.com/ClintonMarinaKS, for updates.
