The City of Lawrence has scheduled two new city-load compost days to compensate for canceling one last weekend so the facility could accept storm debris.
The city-load compost and woodchip events are set for 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 16 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.
Fresh compost and woodchips will be available during those events, according to the city, but no dropoff will be allowed.
The facility, at 1420 E. 11th St., accepts cash only, no bills larger than $20. City-loaded material is $10 per scoop, according to the city’s website.
There are also two more opportunities to bring storm debris to the the compost facility for dropoff: from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, according to the website.
Limbs and brush should not be bundled to take to the compost facility, and sticks and branches should be smaller than 8 inches in diameter. There will be no charge for dropoff for Lawrence residents, who should bring proof of residency, such as an official ID, driver’s license or utility bill with a City of Lawrence address.
The next city-load event after next week is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, according to the website. Otherwise, Self-Load Saturdays are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each week through Nov. 23, as well as Dec. 7 and 14.
