It’s that time of year again — all the good doggos are invited to go for a swim before the pool at the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center is drained for the year.

Humans can enjoy the pool, 727 Kentucky St., from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The annual Pooch Plunge is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. The popular event generally draws hundreds of dogs.

It costs $5 per dog to enter, and there’s no registration required this year. Pups’ people can pay at the door.

Last year’s plunge was rescheduled, then canceled because of dangerously hot temperatures. As of Thursday evening, the National Weather Service forecast showed an anticipated high of 82° on Tuesday.

Want to go to the Pooch Plunge but don’t have a dog? The Lawrence Humane Society has waived adoption fees for some four-legged friends ahead of Clear the Shelter Day, coming up Saturday, Sept. 7. Read more at this link.
