LMH Health’s annual Health Fair will give folks a chance to catch up on routine health screenings, get a flu shot and learn from community organizations.

The event is set for 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the LMH main campus, 325 Maine St.

“Teams from LMH Health and other community agencies will be on hand to talk with participants, provide health education, information and connect with the community,” according to a news release from the hospital. “You can visit with them to learn more about topics including diabetes, stroke, and pregnancy and childbirth.”

Attendees can also get a comprehensive blood panel to keep an eye on key health metrics.

“For those without insurance, the health fair can also provide services that cost less than a doctor’s visit, including blood work,” according to the release. “The LMH Health Laboratory will provide a comprehensive, fasting blood panel for a small fee, including total cholesterol and triglyceride levels.”

Those who want to get a blood profile can register online ahead of time and pay $30, or they’ll cost $50 at the door.

Register at lmh.org/health-fair before Tuesday, Sept. 3 to save $20 on the blood panel, according to the website. (If you’re getting a blood profile, you should fast for 10 hours beforehand, according to the website.)

Men can add a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test for an extra $10. The test is often the first step in diagnosing prostate cancer, which usually doesn’t have any symptoms until it has progressed, according to the release.

Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association will be on hand to provide flu shots for $60 for those who are 18 and older. Payment is required with cash or check. If you’re 65 or older, bring your Medicare card.

Here’s a list of other screenings that will be available and the community partners that are providing them, according to the release:

  • Blood pressure – LMH Health Community Outreach and Engagement
  • BMI (Body Mass Index) – Masonic Cancer Alliance
  • Bone density – University of Kansas Pharmacy students
  • Colorectal cancer screening kits for those who are eligible – Masonic Cancer Alliance
  • Glucose – LMH Health Diabetes Education
