Michael Andre Sawyer, 76, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Saturday September 28, 2024.

A Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday October 8, 2024, 5-7 pm at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.

Mike was born April 4,1948, in Wichita, KS, the son of Robert and Josette (Bertoncini) Sawyer. He attended Wyandotte High School, Kansas City, KS. Upon graduating, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1966, where he served as a medic.

He was united in marriage to Peggy (Davis) Sawyer on March 10, 1973. They shared 51 years of marriage together.

Mike enjoyed camping, nature and being outdoors, his family, and animals. He never knew a stranger, always striking up a conversation and offering a smile to anyone who was in his presence. Great with one-liners, he always made people laugh. One of his favorite things to do was to take camping trips to the Niangua River with his family. He was also an avid Chiefs fan, and he rarely missed a game.

After working for more than 30 years in the pest control industry, he retired from Weavers Exterminators. After that he enjoyed bird watching, spending time with his family, and being outdoors as much as his health would allow. He was also Member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, Tonganoxie.

Survivors include; his wife, Peggy Sawyer, of the home; Son, David Sawyer, Sioux City, SD; daughters, Angele Davis, Gladstone, MO, Jennifer Carlyle, Lawrence, KS; Brothers, Frank Sawyer, Kansas City, KS, Richard Sawyer, Andover, KS, Charles Sawyer, Kansas City, KS, William Sawyer, Overland Park, KS, Matthew Stamback-Sawyer, Palm Springs, CA; sister, Elizabeth Cercone, Kansas City, KS; and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society.
