Out and about in Lawrence: Folks share resolutions, 2024 in one word

We asked some folks who were out and about in downtown Lawrence on the first two days of 2025 to share their new year’s resolutions and describe 2024 in one word. Here’s what they had to say.

Levi Clock, Lawrence local

Resolution: “To be consistent with my habits and goals. Less procrastination, more focus, more discipline — I think I’d be happy with that.”

2024 in one word: “Rebirth.”


Summer Loehr, KU student

Resolution: “Nothing specific. Just to continue working toward building a life and a community.”

2024 in one word: “Hell.” 

Isabella Myers, Lawrence High student

Resolution: “To be more peaceful.”

2024 in one word: “Messy.”


Kodyak Jake, Lawrence local youth

Resolution: “To strive for more independence.”

2024 in one word: “Chaotic.”

Jubilee Jacob, Lawrence local youth

Resolution: “To earn more money.”

2024 in one word: “Just OK.”


Alize Phommaseng, Lawrence High student 

Resolution: “To be open and positive.”

2024 in one word: “Chaotic.”

Kaity Lewis, Lawrence local

Resolution: “To quit vaping, and to quit scrolling on my phone so much.”

2024 in one word: “Overwhelming.”
