Lawrence City Hall and parks and recreation facilities will be closed Monday because of inclement weather and dangerous travel conditions.
Recreational facilities will also be closed Sunday.
The city made the announcement Saturday evening amid icy precipitation and dangerous streets, with several inches of snow expected on Sunday.
Lawrence Transit has also canceled all services for the weekend but anticipates resuming service on Monday, Jan. 6, possibly later in the day than usual.
In-person city services will be unavailable Monday, including municipal court, planning and development, the city clerk’s office and utility billing, though online billing services will be available, according to the announcement.
“Any additional impacts to City services will be shared via news release and on the City’s Facebook page,” according to the announcement.
The city encourages people, if they can, to “stay home and off the roads to keep them clear for essential workers and to stay safe.”
