The Douglas County area will likely see thunderstorms and strong wind gusts overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.
There’s a 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, and winds are expected to increase to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon with possible gusts up to 40 mph.
The chance of precipitation grows to 90% later Tuesday, wind gusts of up to 45 mph and a low temperature of around 55° are expected, according to NWS. There is a slight risk of large hail — up to 2.5 inches — and damaging wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph.

Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high of 69°, though wind gusts of 30 mph are possible. There’s a slight chance of thunderstorms before 7 a.m., according to NWS.
There’s a 20% chance of showers Thursday, and the high is expected to be 60°, according to NWS as of Monday morning. Friday, the chance of showers increases to 50% along with wind gusts of up to 20 mph.
Saturday, there’s a 50% chance of showers, but Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 56°, according to NWS.
