The City of Lawrence is asking the community for input on ways to make the town more bicycle-friendly.
“The Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is updating the Lawrence Bike Plan, building on the progress made over the past five years,” according to a news release from the city. “This update will refine existing infrastructure plans and set the course for continued improvements.”
The city wants to know about challenges that need to be addressed for Lawrence to be more bikeable.
An open house is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 in the Lawrence Public Library auditorium.
City staff members will also be tabling at two upcoming events:
• 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at Trails That Connect Us, 1927 Moodie Road
• 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Lawrence Farmers Market, 824 New Hampshire St.
There is also an online survey that takes about seven minutes to complete, according to the city. It will be available until May 4 at this link.
“Additional opportunities to talk to staff and take the survey will be posted online as they are scheduled,” according to the release.
The city aims to have a draft of the new plan this fall to submit to the Lawrence City Commission this winter, according to a tentative timeline.
