Four Lawrence businesses, including two located downtown, have recently announced that they’re closing.

Sammy Thomsen, head designer at Winfield House, made a Facebook post on Friday about the love and loss her family experienced in 30 years operating the furniture business.

“You all made this more than a business,” Thomsen said, to supporters, in the post. “You made it personal. Thank you for every moment, every memory, and every bit of support.”

Thomsen wrote that her grandparents, Win and Linda Campbell, opened Winfield House in 1995 as a “place to find comfort, quality, and joy in your home.” And Ken Campbell, owner and Thomsen’s father, kept it running.

A retirement and store closure sale will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 645 Massachusetts St.

Einstein Bros. Bagels was also a longstanding business on Massachusetts Street. A sign posted to the door Thursday thanked patrons and said the Lawrence store was permanently closed.

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom opened in west Lawrence in 2018.

In an Aug. 14 post to its now unavailable Facebook page, the Lawrence store said it made a difficult decision to close. Signage on the front door Friday warned against trespassing.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from the community over the years,” the post had said.

The Lawrence location of Office Depot, 2525 Iowa St., on Thursday also announced it is closing. Signs on the door indicated clearance sales.
