A motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash at a roundabout in southwest Lawrence, according to police.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Lake Pointe Drive and Clinton Parkway. Officers arrived on the scene at about 4:12 p.m. after receiving a call from witnesses.

The motorcyclist, a 50-year-old man, had collided with the roundabout.

The man was taken to a trauma center in Topeka, where he was pronounced dead.

“The Lawrence Police Accident Investigations Unit is investigating the crash,” the Lawrence Police Department wrote in a Facebook post Friday morning. “This is the second fatal motorcycle crash at that intersection this summer.”

Another motorcyclist was killed in a crash at the intersection on July 9. Police reported that speed had played a part in that incident.
