Multiple stretches of Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence will be closed for community events over the weekend.

Mass will be closed between North Park and South Park streets until 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 for Art in the Park, according to a city announcement on Friday.

The Lawrence Art Guild’s annual event will bring more than 130 artists to South Park for the event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. Read more about it in this article.

In addition, the 1000 block of Mass — between 10th and 11th streets — will be closed beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday through 2 a.m. Sunday for the Live On Mass: Brass On Mass Block Party.

The free show will feature The Dead Bettys, The Band That Saved The World and River City Brass Band. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 in the 1000 block of Mass.

Traffic will be detoured to New Hampshire Street to Ninth Street, then to 11th Street, according to the city. Connecticut Street through 15th Street will be the detour to access Massachusetts Street because of the southern closure, according to the city. Eleventh Street will remain open throughout the weekend.
