Lawrence and Douglas County community members can help shape the future of bicycling in town and beyond.

The current Lawrence Bikes Plan was approved in October 2019. An update to the plan, currently in progress, will “refine current infrastructure strategies and set direction for future improvements,” according to a Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization news release.

“Your input is crucial to making Lawrence more bike-friendly,” according to the city. “Even if you don’t ride often, your feedback helps make Lawrence streets and trails safer and more accessible for all ages and abilities.”

An open house on the bike plan update process is set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Lawrence Public Library auditorium, 707 Vermont St.

MPO members will also be tabling at the following times:
7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Lawrence Farmers Market, 824 New Hampshire St.
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at River Trail Riot, 865 Oak St.
1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Octoginta, 402 N. Second St.
2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Lawrence Public Library

There is an online survey where folks can drop pins on a map where they feel connections are missing from the planned bike network. That will be available through Monday, Oct. 20 at this link.

The city has posted the results of the first bike plan survey on its website at this link.
