A one-woman play to be hosted at Haskell Indian Nations University portrays bravery and resilience through the eyes of a Navajo woman.

Lori Tapahonso stars in “Native Vision,” a Living Voices theater production currently on tour. The story depicts Alice, whose life connects to the Native American boarding school experience and to Navajo code talkers of World War II, according to information from organizers.

Tapahonso, Diné/Acoma Pueblo, is a Haskell alum who was a member of Haskell Thunderbird Theatre. She also graduated from the University of Kansas and Baker University.

“Native Vision” is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 in the Haskell auditorium. It’s free to attend, and tickets do not need to be reserved.

Haskell Thunderbird Theatre is sponsoring the performance in celebration of its 50th birthday this year.

The KU Office of Sovereign Partnerships, KU School of Social Welfare, and Haskell Foundation’s Jeffrey Longhofer Fund are co-sponsors. Additional support comes from the Kansas City Indian Center.
