The City of Lawrence is again asking residents to help name a snow plow, and this year, the final choice will go to a community vote.

The tradition began in 2024, when a snow plow was given the name Taylor Drift following more than 650 contest entries.

Participants can submit their name ideas at lawrenceks.gov/snow between now and Sunday, Oct. 26, according to a city announcement on Monday.

The city will announce top finalists on Monday, Oct. 27. Folks can then vote for their favorite names through Sunday, Nov. 2 at lawrenceks.gov/snow. Last year, a panel of city judges selected the winning name.

“Last year’s contest was incredibly fun and brought our community together in a unique way that helped to spark a little joy during the winter months,” according to the city. “‘Taylor Drift’ became a bit of a local celebrity, and this year, we’re excited to see what new name will join the lineup and become part of Lawrence’s snow plow family.”

The winning name will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 5, according to the city.
