Not long after the Salty Iguana sign was removed from its former west Lawrence storefront, a second restaurant near the intersection of Sixth and Wakarusa announced its final day of operation.
t.Loft closing
t.Loft announced Friday morning that it would cease regular business hours that afternoon, leading customers to make a final pilgrimage to the health-conscious, gluten-free cafe.
The announcement, which went out via social media and newsletter, expressed gratitude to loyal customers and said the closure was a difficult decision made after reflection.
“Please understand that our team has poured their hearts into this place, and it’s been an honor to serve our guests and be part of this community,” the message reads. “We hope you will join us for any future endeavors, use up any points or Gift Cards, and give us one last chance to say goodbye.”

t.Loft was set to close as of 4 p.m. on Friday, but the newsletter and posts said there will be opportunities next week to grab leftover favorites and cash in points and gift cards.
Commenters on Facebook said the store would be missed, especially as there are limited gluten-free options in town. Diners also went there for fresh-pressed juices, smoothies and shakes.
Owners declined the opportunity to comment or provide more details on chances to shop next week.

Salty Iguana sign comes down
After announcements in March that Salty Iguana locations in Prairie Village and Lawrence were closing, the local lizard sign has officially come down.
The Mexican restaurant operated for 30 years before shuttering for failure to pay taxes totaling $103,205.
Tables, chairs and even the reptilian murals remain in the building, as all assets were seized by the Kansas state government.
The eatery was located at 4931 W. Sixth St.
