Douglas County is requesting feedback on its management of trash, recycling, organics and other waste materials.
Residents of Baldwin City, Eudora, Lecompton and rural areas are invited to participate in an online survey. The survey is open through Wednesday, Dec. 24 at this link.
Responses will help shape Douglas County’s joint Solid Waste Management Plan with Jefferson County, according to a news release.
The goal is to support long-term environmental sustainability by comparing current systems to potential alternatives.

Kim Criner Ritchie, Douglas County sustainability manager, said the Kansas Department of Health and Environment requires counties to update their plans.
“We encourage residents to take the survey to help us better understand the needs of our communities,” Criner Ritchie said in the release.
The City of Lawrence will administer a separate survey in early 2026, and those responses will also inform the joint plan, according to the release.
