The Bales Choral Society, a group of University of Kansas faculty, staff and students from various departments and disciplines across campus, are set to perform a fall concert.

The group gets together “to sing and just have some fun with colleagues creating music,” according to a news release. KU brass and percussion musicians make up the orchestra.

Their fall semester concert is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center, 1631 Crescent Road. It’s free to attend, and doors open at 6:40 p.m. Parking will be available in regular lots on campus.

The concert will even include an original piece, “It was a Sunday,” composed by BCS member J.R. Speake, as well as John Rutter’s “Gloria.”

The group was created in August 2024 by KU Emeritus Professor of Organ and Church Music Michael Bauer, according to the release.

The choral is under the direction of Wolfgang Reisinger, a visiting professor of organ and church music from Vienna, Austria, assisted by graduate students in the music program, according to the release. Cory Reames and Max Linares will be the featured conductors for the fall concert.

“Some members of the group also are doing a music tour to Vienna in February 2026 led by Reisinger, including rehearsals and a performance at a music festival and a guided musical tour of the city,” according to the release.

The 2025-26 repertoire will also feature Mozart’s Requiem in the spring, according to the release.
