Twenty-nine local artists will be selling their work at the Lawrence Art Guild’s Holiday Art Fair this weekend at the Cider Gallery in Lawrence.
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at the gallery, 810 Pennsylvania St.
For those looking for a special, one-of-a-kind gift, this is the place to go. Artists will have a variety of work from prints and cards to large original paintings and handcrafted jewelry. Ceramic artists, paper artists, mixed media artists and photographers will all be there.
Lori George will have her bright floral paintings and unique ornaments as well as some fun frog pieces; Celia Smith will be selling her semi-abstract images of landscapes, figures, or whimsical animals in originals, prints or cards; and Heather Duris, another semi-abstract Lawrence painter, will be selling cards, prints, and originals of all sizes.
Visitors will delight in the detailed and delicate watercolors by Susan Theroff and the bold acrylics by Janey Greene. Shoppers can pick up a bright sun ornament by Toni Brou or a finely crafted ceramic vase or bowl by Kim Brook. For those who are looking for functional ceramics, Gretchyn Nothhouse of Redstone Pottery will be selling her work.
For those looking for fiber arts, Jerry Ann Dowdle creates upcycled woolen wear including hats and shawls, and Susan Ashley transforms warm winter coats into works of art with applique and embroidery.
Jewelers will provide a large selection for visitors to choose from. From the expert silver smithing of Kristin and Chris Cooper or Brenda Haack to the unique leatherworking of Loreta Schmidt, the colorful pieces of Jill Calvert or the intricate paper quill-work of Kathie Duguid, those looking for a distinctive gift of jewelry will be sure to find one.
A bonus for visitors to the Holiday Art Fair is the current exhibit at the Cider Gallery — the All Members Show for the Lawrence Art Guild. This exhibit showcases the varied work of all members of the Lawrence Art Guild. The All Members Show will be on exhibit at the Cider Gallery through Jan. 23.
