Update: Missing Lawrence man, 77, found safe, police say

Update, 7:22 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30:

Lawrence police have canceled a silver alert after finding a missing 77-year-old man safe, the department announced Tuesday.

Police were looking for Roger Harry Bean, who had last been seen Dec. 23, according to a news release on Monday.

“Information led us to the Kansas City metro area where an officer traveled to confirm his identity,” police said in Tuesday’s update.

Original post, 4:35 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29:

Lawrence police are asking for the public’s help to locate Roger Harry Bean, 77.

“He has not been seen since December 23, 2025, has cognitive issues, and is known to wander and hitchhike,” according to a news release from LPD.

Bean is 6-foot-2 and weights about 195 pounds, according to the release. He has graying brown hair.

Police ask anyone who sees Bean to call 911 or dispatch at 785-843-0250 immediately.
