Dirty Dough, a gourmet cookie shop in west Lawrence, has announced its closure after two years.

A post made on the franchise’s Facebook page on Thursday regretfully shared the news.

“We’re very grateful for the support from this community over the past few years,” the post says.

The franchise owner declined to comment further on Friday.

Dirty Dough opened in October 2023 at the shopping center at Bob Billings Parkway and Wakarusa Drive.

In an interview with founder Bennett Maxwell in June 2023, Maxwell said he created the company with an underlying concept: “Our product is all about ‘what’s on the inside matters most,’ and ‘life is messy, and that’s OK,’” he had said.

The Topeka franchise, located at 2727 SW Wanamaker Road, remains open, according to the Facebook post.
