Lawrence Habitat for Humanity on Saturday will distribute free kits to help folks prep their homes for winter weather.
The giveaway will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the nonprofit’s ReStore, 2108 W. 27th St. Suite C in Lawrence.
“They are free kits to help people treat windows and other things around their homes to hopefully reduce the impact of the colder months,” Habitat board member George Diepenbrock said via email.
There are 150 kits available on a first-come, first-served basis. Diepenbrock said the organization was successful last year in giving away all kits.
The high temperature in the forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday are 24°, 40° and 30°, respectively, according to the National Weather Service.
Overnight lows in the forecast are as cold as 6° Saturday, followed by lows of 15° and 11° on Sunday and Monday.
