Lawrencians with sweet teeth still have a few days to order from Smallcakes, a locally owned bakery in west Lawrence, before its upcoming closure.

The final day of business for the store — currently located at 4801 Bauer Farm Drive, Suite F — will be Sunday, March 1.

Smallcakes was open for about a decade. Known for a variety of gourmet cupcakes, it also offered other baked goods such as cake pops, brownies, cookie sandwiches and macarons.

Candice McCall, with Smallcakes, said that this a full closure of the Lawrence location.

“Our lease was ending, and after evaluating the space, we felt the location was no longer the right fit for our business,” McCall said via email. “We are exploring the possibility of finding a space that better supports our needs in the future, but no decisions have been made yet.”

McCall said people could still shop at their sister store in Topeka in the meantime, and that they are grateful for Lawrence’s support over the years.

“We want the community to know how truly thankful we are,” she wrote. “Every birthday cake, every after‑school cupcake stop, and every sweet moment shared with us meant something.”

Per its website, Smallcakes is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
