Lawrence Transit has released proposed updates to routes and is seeking public feedback throughout the month.

Following public engagement and revisions, the changes will go into effect Aug. 1.

An online survey will be available at this link through Friday, April 3. There will also be several in-person opportunities to give feedback, listed below.

Here are the proposed major changes, as provided by Lawrence Transit:

  • Route 9: Proposed to connect riders directly from South Iowa to Central Station and provide access to the new Dillons. This change comes directly from rider feedback and low ridership on the existing Route 9 alignment. The new route would turn east on Clinton Parkway from Lawrence Avenue, turn north onto Crestline, east on Becker Dr, and then take Iowa street to Bob Billings Parkway.
  • Route 30: Considering adjustments to the alignment and interline to return service to Orchard Corners.
  • Route 38: Adjusting alignment to serve the new Dillons on west campus.
  • Route 41 + 42: If the university implements a new Park & Ride proposal, the university would need to activate this new route alignment set. The Park & Ride proposal will be part of future parking communications.

Here are the proposed minor changes, according to Lawrence Transit:

  • Route 2: Adjusted timepoints B, C, and D by 1-2 minutes to reflect real time operations. A 6:50 PM trip was moved to 2:50 PM to reflect ridership demands.
  • Route 3: Adjusted timepoints B, C, and D by 1-5 minutes to reflect real time operations. A 6:00am trip was moved to midday to reflect ridership demands.
  • Route 4: Adjusted timepoints B and D by 3 minutes to reflect real time operations.
  • Route 7: Adjusting timepoints A, B, C and D by 1-7 minutes to reflect real time operations.
  • Route 8: 6:30am northbound trip and 7:00am southbound trip moved to midday to reflect ridership demands. All timepoints adjusted by 1-4 minutes to reflect real time operations.
  • Platform bay changes at Central Station: The order in which buses line up at Central Station will be adjusted to accommodate route 9 changes and improve operational efficiency.
