As the Lawrence Public Library devises its first master plan in two decades, staff members are asking the community to show up to two town hall celebration events to provide input on the future of the building and its offerings.
The library’s master plan is “a long-term vision for how your Library can better serve you, your family, and the broader Lawrence community for years to come,” according to a news release.
The library hired New York City-based Margaret Sullivan Studio as the consulting firm to help staff with the plan as they consider how to maximize benefits for patrons within a budget.
Thus far, the library has hosted listening sessions with staff and community partners and launched a now-closed citywide survey. They hope to hear from even more of the community at the two upcoming town halls, which will feature interactive stations for folks to share their input on library spaces, services and community needs.
“Share your ideas, priorities, and vision for what the Library could be,” according to the release. “… Your input will directly inform the Master Facilities Plan.”
The first town hall community celebration will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 23 at the library, 707 Vermont St. Register for the session at this link.
Folks will have a second opportunity to chime in from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 at Johnny’s West, 721 Wakarusa Drive. Sign up at this link.
More information can be found on either event landing page, linked above.
