eXplore Lawrence and several community organizations will host a community resource fair this week to answer folks’ questions about the World Cup and activities surrounding it.
The fair is set for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9 at the Carnegie Building, 200 W. Ninth St. The event will be open house-style with no formal presentation.
“Jambars FC plans to provide attendees with information about how to watch soccer matches, and some demonstrations,” according to a news release from eXplore Lawrence.
Here’s a list of other participating organizations, according to the release:
Busker Festivals Inc.
The Chamber, Lawrence
Douglas County Emergency Management
Haskell Cultural Center and Museum
Kansas African Studies Center at KU
Kansas Athletics

Representatives of the city’s departments of housing, code enforcement, parking, transit, and parks, recreation and culture will also be present, according to the release.
“We know people have questions about so many different aspects of the tournament and how it will affect their lives in Lawrence,” Kim Anspach, executive director of eXplore Lawrence, said in the release. “We wanted to gather as many organizations as we could to create a one-stop shop for community members to get those questions answered.”
World Cup matches begin Thursday, June 11, and the final match is set for Sunday, July 19. Six matches are slated for Kansas City between Tuesday, June 16 and Saturday, July 11. Find more coverage at this link.
