The Self Advocate Coalition of Kansas — a statewide organization based in Lawrence for and by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — will host a community gathering Saturday to celebrate the 31-year anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
SACK, a civil rights-focused organization, will also offer community members the chance to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as part of a partnership with Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health. The group is offering $20 Downtown Lawrence gift certificates to the first 25 people who get vaccinated Saturday.
The group will also have gift cards available to Sylas and Maddie’s or Mass Street Soda to thank those who present their completed COVID-19 vaccination cards (while supplies last).
There will be free face painting, food, games with prizes, a photo booth, a DJ, and information on the ADA, the organization said.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Holcom Park, 2700 West 27th St.
