Lawrencians are welcome but not required to bring their house plants to next week’s plant swap, featuring free foliage and greenery for trade.
The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the auditorium of the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.
Sales are not permitted at the event, which is co-organized by the Lawrence library, KU Libraries and local plant shop Jungle House.
Attendees must label plants that are only available for trade — otherwise, folks can assume they’re up for grabs.
Organizers will provide free seedlings and sprouts for attendees to take home, and Jungle House staff will be available to answer questions about domestic greenery.
Those who do bring their own plants must have healthy, pest-free specimens and a clean container such as a paper bag or cardboard box. Plants should be labeled with a name and care instructions, if possible. The library will provide tables, signs to label plants that are not free for the taking but available for a swap, plant consultation, spare boxes and bags and extra sticky notes for labeling.
